Xiaomen Whale Cave
Xiaomen Whale Cave is one of Penghu’s well-known coastal landmarks, located on Xiaomen Island, just north of Xiyu Island. This natural sea arch was formed by waves gradually eroding the basalt cliffs. It gets its name from its resemblance to a whale emerging from the sea.
The surrounding area offers views of Penghu’s basalt coastline, though there’s little shade and the wind can be strong. Nearby, the Xiaomen Geological Exploration Hall offers exhibits on Penghu’s geology, while local eateries serve squid vermicelli, a traditional Penghu dish.
